How does the organization address concerns such as the type and size of bandwidth and the capability of implementing Web 2.0 tools?

Currently MSKCC’s Research Animal Resource Center (RARC) does not use Web 2.0 tools in day-to-day instruction for it’s learners, referred to as investigators. However, other departments within MSKCC have conducted webinars with remote satellite locations such as Basking Ridge, New Jersey and Sleepy Hollow, New York demonstrating the ability to do so.
The organizational bandwidth can support such web tool demands. However, regarding the RARC at MSKCC, no plans exist to expand Web 2.0 resources. Further analysis may determine return on investment with Web 2.0; however, today, the current instructional processes seem adequate to meet investigator’s needs.

Continued exploration of Web 2.0 tools, such as discussion boards, a question and answer web page, and synchronous communication tools, such as whiteboard may prove useful for future collaborative learning at the RARC. The current bandwidth at MSKCC (a bonded T1 type) supports organizational upgrades for Web 2.0 tools to support RARC’s investigators.
The MSKCC podcast research section demonstrates the organizations current ability to support such tools for the RARC (Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, 2012). Therefore, current web infrastructure at the MSKCC supports additional Web 2.0 tools for the RARC.
